Why Villains Fascinate Us More Than Heroes Sometimes

3 min read

Heroes inspire us.

Villains intrigue us.

The difference is subtle, but important.

Heroes often represent ideals.

Villains represent possibilities.

They ask uncomfortable questions.

What happens when fear replaces compassion?

When ambition outweighs principle?

When good intentions slowly become obsession?

Perhaps that's why I enjoy studying them so much.

Not because I admire their actions, but because understanding them helps us better understand ourselves.

The best stories aren't about defeating evil.

They're about understanding how easily any one of us could lose our way.

And perhaps that's the lesson great villains have always been trying to teach us.
