Star Wars & Storytelling

Where Should New Fans Start With Star Wars in 2026?

4 min read

One of the questions I hear most often is:

"Where do I even begin?"

It's a fair question.

Today, Star Wars is much bigger than nine films.

There are television series, novels, comics, games and animation, which can feel intimidating to someone looking in from the outside.

My advice is always the same:

Don't try to consume everything. Start with what interests you.

If you enjoy adventure and classic storytelling, begin with the Original Trilogy.

If politics and tragedy appeal to you, the Prequel Trilogy offers one of the most ambitious character arcs in modern cinema.

If you enjoy long-form storytelling, series like Andor or The Clone Wars reveal just how much depth exists beyond the films.

For readers, I often recommend exploring The High Republic, a publishing initiative that has created an entirely new era of Jedi history without relying on nostalgia.

Star Wars isn't just science fiction.

It's mythology.

It's family drama.

It's political intrigue.

It's philosophy.

At its heart, it's a story about hope, choice and redemption.

That's why, nearly fifty years later, people are still discovering it for the first time.
