Football Writing

Football Is History Told in Ninety Minutes

2 min read

I've never believed football is "just a game."

Every great rivalry carries decades of history.

Every badge represents a city, a community or sometimes an entire nation.

The greatest matches are remembered the same way historical events are remembered. People remember where they were, who they watched with and how they felt.

That's why I enjoy writing about football.

The tactics matter.

The statistics matter.

But the human stories matter even more.

Whether it's an underdog upsetting the favourites or a captain lifting a trophy after years of disappointment, football reminds us that history is still being written every weekend.

Maybe that's why it captivates billions of people around the world.
